Marriott International has expanded its footprint in Japan with the opening of the Hamamatsu Marriott Hotel, marking the brand’s debut in Hamamatsu.
Located in central Hamamatsu near key transport nodes, the 236-room property offers direct access to the Tokaido Shinkansen, placing both Tokyo and Osaka within 90 minutes. The hotel also sits within easy reach of Mount Fuji Shizuoka Airport.
A new gateway for business events
While Hamamatsu is best known for global manufacturing and industrial innovation, the hotel is expected to serve business travellers visiting Shizuoka’s corporate centres.
Beyond its corporate pull, the destination offers planners access to offsite programming – from the coastal landscapes of the Enshu Coast to cultural landmarks such as Hamamatsu Castle and the Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments – supporting bleisure-driven itineraries.
Large-scale, flexible meeting infrastructure
For planners, the hotel delivers a substantial meetings proposition, with 13 event spaces spanning a total of 4,053sqm and capacity for up to 1,600 delegates. The largest space is the 1,996 sqm Otori Ballroom, a pillarless venue that can host up to 1,600 guests in a theatre setup or 1,500 for banquets.
The ballroom can be divided into three sections, with the central portion accommodating up to 1,000 theatre-style, while the east and west sections cater to 352 and 304 guests respectively.
A selection mid-sized venues enhances flexibility across event formats. The 580 sqm Tsuru room can host up to 413 delegates theatre-style, while Kujuyaku, at 359 sqm, supports up to 386.
Additional rooms such as Asuka and Les Anges, each measuring 219 sqm, are suited to breakout sessions, workshops and smaller corporate functions, accommodating up to 234 and 168 attendees respectively.
Smaller meeting rooms and boardrooms round out the offering, providing dedicated spaces for executive discussions, private meetings and VIP hosting.
Integrated stay with local identity
Guestrooms and public spaces are designed around the concept of “The Art of the Weave”, drawing from Hamamatsu’s textile heritage and musical legacy.
Onsite, three dining venues, the M Club lounge, and the brand’s signature Greatroom provide options for networking, private functions and informal meetings, while wellness facilities and proximity to nature support extended stays and incentive-style programmes.
