The newly opened City of Dreams Sri Lanka is a joint venture between Melco Resorts & Entertainment and Sri Lankan conglomerate John Keells Holdings.
Casino and hotel complex City of Dreams, dubbed the first integrated resort in South Asia, has officially opened in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo.
The property is a joint venture between Melco Resorts & Entertainment, an owner and operator of casino gaming and entertainment casino resort facilities in Asia and Sri Lankan conglomerate John Keells Holdings.
The resort, part of which opened last year under phase one of the project, features Colombo’s largest conference centre, catering for up to 5,000 people. Visitors can also enjoy two luxury hotels, a gaming floor and an extensive food and beverage offering, alongside entertainment and other event spaces. Guests can stay at the 687-room Cinnamon Life hotel and the 113-room Nüwa hotel with ultra-luxury rooms.
According to Melco, City of Dreams Sri Lanka aims to revolutionise luxury hospitality, entertainment, and leisure in South Asia, ‘presenting extraordinary architecture and design and a collection of iconic and unparalleled offerings including hotel accommodation, retail, food & beverage outlets, MICE facilities, and much more’.
In an investor update from the end of July, Lawrence Ho, chairman and chief executive at Melco said: “We are very excited to have City of Dreams Sri Lanka open on 1 August 2025. City of Dreams Sri Lanka represents the first integrated resort in Sri Lanka and South Asia, and we are excited for the opportunities this presents for us.”
