Bandar Puteri Puchong in Selangor is set to welcome its first internationally branded five-star hotel.

This week, IOI Properties Group announced plans to develop The Westin Puchong as part of its RM12 billion (US$2.9 billion) IOI Rio City mixed-use development, according to local media reports.

Expected to open in 2030, the hotel will be developed in partnership with Marriott International.

The Westin Puchong will feature 298 guestrooms and suites, which IOI Properties says makes it the township's first internationally branded five-star property.

The hotel will also house 1,858sqm of meeting spaces and lifestyle amenities catering to business and leisure travellers.

It will also benefit from the 40.4-ha IOI Rio City development, which is built on the idea of a 15-minute walkable city, taking in approximately 92,900-sqm shopping mall, convention facilities and sports amenities.
