Imagine channelling your inner Lara Croft or Indiana Jones and
embarking on a treasure hunt in Angkor Wat, Cambodia's majestic 12th
century temple complex in Siem Reap.
Destination management company Asian Trails has partnered with Tabtour Cambodia to launch a new corporate teambuilding activity.
In an "Amazing Race"-style search for clues and tasks to complete,
teams are sent on a tech-enabled treasure hunt among the ruins of
spectacular Angkor Archaeological Park, the home of the Khmer Empire
from the 9th to the 15th centuries.
While completing tasks at various stages of the hunt, participants
will have to work as a team, assign roles and delegate among themselves,
while benefiting from opportunities to learn about the history,
traditions, religion, food and other cultural aspects of Angkor Wat and
the Siem Reap area. There may be instances when teams have to enter into
strategic alliances or negotiation sessions with other competing teams
in order to complete a particular stage in the hunt.
Catering to groups of up to 1,000, guests are guided by their
smartphones or a SIM-enabled tablet device around the temples through
the adoption of state-of-the-art mapping technology.
Asian Trails and Tabtour Cambodia can tailor the treasure hunt
duration and the tasks to complete, depending on the guests' needs and
time availability.
The hunt can be extended, if needed, with tasks for completion in
Siem Reap as well. Some of the tasks to be undertaken require the teams
to take photos as evidence of the completed activities.
An exciting showdown ensues among participating teams at the end as
the scores are totalled up in real time, and teams can benefit from
photo and video sessions of their adventures during the event's
debriefing and finale.
Guests also have the option of factoring in a sustainability
component to their teambuilding activity, as Asian Trails can help
facilitate the teams' hands-on assistance towards a project in the local
community, such as in building shops as a base for local villagers to
sell local handicrafts to tourists.
