Despite global lockdowns, fashion fans and enthusiasts in mainland China managed to catch up with collections showcased at the just concluded Paris Fashion Week (PFW), via Tencent Cloud’s virtual platform.

In collaboration with Chinese digital agency group, Hylink, Tencent Cloud tapped on cloud-based, digital solutions to broadcast the renowned fashion event’s Womenswear Spring – Summer 2021 collections direct to China's fashion-conscious consumers.

Through Tencent Cloud Conference (TCC), a part of the Tencent Cloud Convention and Exhibition Solution, fans tuned in online to the September 28 and October 6 event, taking virtual front-row seats ‘live’ or through video-on-demand to watch fashion shows of more than 80 global brands.

“This edition of Paris Fashion Week is a unique and prestigious event that requires a robust technology platform for broadcasting the creative videos and live fashion shows. The [virtual fashion] platform, powered by TCC’s advanced functionalities, allows the Chinese audience to have an immersive online experience through PFW’s member designers’ extraordinary fashion journey,” said Yuan Zou, head of luxury & fashion Europe from Hylink.

“Under the post-pandemic new normal, many business sectors are accelerating their digital transformation journey to ensure sustainable growth and stay competitive. The fashion industry, which is facing unprecedented business challenges, is of no exception. [This event] further demonstrates TCC’s capabilities in streaming high-quality, world-class events without geographical boundaries,” said Poshu Yeung, VP of Tencent International Business Group.

Paris Fashion Week is yet another feather in Tencent's virtual event cap, after the tech giant supported the physical-to-digital shift of the world’s largest trade fair, the 127th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), in June.

The 128th edition of the Canton Fair will also be held online from 15 to 24 October.
