The destination projects IEEE ICRA 2030 will generate 1.06 billion baht in economic activity.
Thailand has secured the rights to host the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (IEEE ICRA) 2030, marking the first time the flagship global robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation conference will be held in the country.
The event will take place from 13 to 17 June 2030 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok and is expected to attract around 10,000 delegates, including approximately 8,000 international participants.
The successful bid was led jointly by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the Faculty of Engineering at Mahidol University, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Thailand Chapter and the IEEE Thailand Section. The conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, IEEE RAS Thailand Chapter, IEEE Thailand Section and the Thailand Medical Robotics and AI Association.
According to TCEB, the conference is expected to generate more than 1.06 billion baht (US$31.4 million) in direct economic activity, contribute 590.6 million baht in value added to the Thai economy, create around 745 jobs and generate an estimated 36.4 million baht in tax revenue.
TCEB said the event aligns with Thailand's strategy of attracting international business events that support priority industries and long-term economic development.

Associate Professor Jackrit Suthakorn, founder and executive director of the Center for Biomedical and Robotics Technology (BART LAB) at Mahidol University, added that IEEE ICRA is recognised globally for bringing together academia, industry and government, while providing a platform for technology showcases, research collaboration, business matching and investment.
Thailand's bid also received support from Informa Markets Thailand and the Federation of Thai Industries, which said hosting the conference would strengthen the country's ambitions to become a regional hub for robotics, automation and advanced manufacturing.
