Agreements signed during a ceremony held alongside PCEB's BE Associate programme.
The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with six universities and colleges to strengthen the talent pipeline for Malaysia's business events industry.
The agreements were signed during a ceremony held alongside PCEB's BE Associate programme, an industry initiative designed to connect students with career opportunities and practical experience in the business events sector.
The participating institutions are SENTRAL College Penang, DISTED College, INTI International College Penang, SEGi College Penang, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College (Batu Kawan Campus) and Taylor's University (Lakeside Campus).
Under the partnerships, students will gain greater access to industry conferences, forums, workshops, internships and knowledge-sharing sessions, providing opportunities to engage directly with business events professionals and develop practical industry skills.
The collaboration also includes joint initiatives focused on talent development, capacity building, professional training and career readiness, with the aim of bridging academic learning and industry practice.
According to PCEB, the partnerships are intended to improve graduate employability, strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, and raise awareness of career opportunities across the business events sector as Penang continues to grow its position as a meetings and events destination.
