Australia's Northern Territory is positioning itself as a top destination for business events, with the region set to host more than 50 conferences over the rest of 2025.
These include 52 domestic and five international conferences, which will be held in Darwin, Alice Springs and Uluru, and are expected to contribute a total economic boost of A$85 million to the Territory economy.
Events include the World Archaeological Congress, hosting 1,200 delegates and taking place in Darwin in June and the World Federation of Neuroscience Nurses Quadrennial Congress, with 200 delegates expected in Darwin in July.
Darwin has also secured hosting rights for several global business events over the next seven years against highly competitive bids from other global destinations, including Rwanda, South Africa, Canada, Brazil and Malaysia.
This includes the international 25th Commonwealth Law Conference in 2027, which will gather more than 800 delegates and is expected to inject more than A$5 million into the economy.
Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Marie-Clare Boothby said: “Our growing appeal as a world-class conference location showcases the Territory on the global stage and aligns with broader tourism goals, such as driving visitation and economic growth across our regions…Darwin is Australia’s northernmost capital, it is as close to Asia as it is to the rest of the country, which makes it a strategic, accessible hub for global delegates.”

A planned Darwin Convention Centre Hotel will also provide additional room capacity for Darwin’s business events market. Momentus Hotels & Resorts, an upscale hospitality brand under Singapore-based Momentus Hospitality, is also expanding into Darwin, marking its first international debut beyond Singapore. Its hotel, located close to the Darwin Convention Centre, is expected to open in 2026.
The 236-room property will operate under local partner CEL Australia’s own brand, and offer a variety of amenities for corporate and leisure travellers, including two F&B outlets and plans for a Club Lounge.
