The Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) 2023 delivered a six-day
event for 400 business events practitioners and provided them with
insights and knowledge through panel discussions, workshops, training
sessions, forums as well as CSR initiatives.
One of the key highlights of the event was the launch of the
MyTripleE support programme under Malaysia Convention & Exhibition
Bureau’s (MyCEB) Meet in Malaysia campaign. The programme is aimed at
attracting regional and international business events to Malaysia while
bolstering the domestic market.
The programme's three components, Excel, Elevate, and Enliven,
provide financial and non-financial support to enhance the execution of
worldclass business events.
· The Excel initiative aims to attract regional/international
business events as part of the strategy to further attract international
audience.
· The Elevate initiative encourages organisations to elevate
event profile and meetings to increase international participants and
engagement at global arena.
· The Enliven initiative serves as an enhancement to delegate experience through non-financial support.
Programme goals
· Develop a competitive and appealing support programme to
attract regional/ international associations in organising business
events in Malaysia
· Uplift the event scale through the support of event marketing and promotion, speaker management and hospitality services
· Encourage local organisers to host regional/international business events and to homegrown events.
Immersive cultural events
Cultural events will be fused into networking events to provide an
immersive environment. They will feature traditional cuisine, music, and
welcome troupes such as usherers with kompang, lion dance, peacock
dance, among others.
Local artisans will showcase their crafts during events and attendees
can observe traditional craftsmanship and even engage in hands-on
activities such as school of hard knocks by Royal Selangor, batik
painting, traditional costume photo-op, and henna painting.
"MyTripleE programme is based on a three-pronged strategy designed to
cover three identified target market segments. It covers international
market development as part of our ongoing portfolio and further
encourages the expansion of local events and meetings to foster the
spirit of unity and harmony amongst Malaysians. Additionally, MyTripleE
also targets to emphasise on cultural elements and to serve as an
enhancement of governmental Business Events," said Hajah Saraya Arbi,
interim chairman of MyCEB.
She expressed excitement about the programme's comprehensive coverage
and its role in supporting stakeholders by addressing industry
challenges. By 2030, business events are expected to attract 5.9 million
delegates, contributing to RM42.12 billion (US$9.08 billion) in
estimated economic impact whilst creating an estimated 25,833 of total
jobs.
As of August 2023, MyCEB has secured 149 business events under its
belt that are happening throughout the year. These events will welcome
around 494,015 delegates to the country.
