The entire MICE supply chain is involved in the TCEB initiative, including DMC partners and hotels.
Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched an
'Ease Up' grant to woo the Singapore MICE market with a slew of new
incentives. This is the latest in a series of initiatives to kickstart
regional events, including a recently proposed alliance among Asia's
convention bureaus.
Aimed at attracting international corporate meetings and events, the
Ease Up grant offers up to THB1,500 (US$50) per person or a dining
experience of up to THB 300,000 (US$9997) per event.
Participating DMC partners will support with complimentary airport
transfers and local experiences, sightseeing or CSR team building
activities for up to 20 delegates. Similarly on the accommodation front,
participating hotels will match the same number of complimentary rooms
for up to 20 paying guest rooms booked.
With MICE accounting for 3.27% of the destination's GDP, the sectors
is considered a critical part of Thailand's economic recovery. Singapore
represents a significant chunk of this market, among the top five
inbound markets for MICE.
“Thailand has long been a very popular destination for the Singapore
market whether it’s for business or for pleasure. With the gradual
opening of borders and year-round convenient air access, we are
confident that the Singapore MICE visitors will be back to Thailand in
no time. The grant is a strong signal to get the market moving again,"
said Melvyn Yap, director for Thread Asia/Singapore representative for
TCEB.
Grant applications will remain open until 30 August 2021 for events
happening no later than 30 September 2021. These must be submitted at
least a month prior to the event.
