The Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau has announced a new international conference grant with subsidy caps ranging from 5 million yen (US$31,455) to 30 million yen, depending on the event size.
The new scheme targets conferences focused on six strategic themes namely life sciences; manufacturing, environment and energy; international financial city; sports, food culture and entertainment; and ontent that contributes to the creation of innovation and the strengthening of industrial competitiveness in Osaka.
These conferences must attract 50 or more participants from the respective field, with at least 20 living outside Japan, and at least three countries or regions of residence represented.

To cover no more than half the conference expense, the subsidy cap scales with event size, starting at 5 million yen for events with 50-99 participants, increasing to 10 million yen for 100-299, 15 million yen for 300-499, 20 million yen for 500-999, 25 million yen for 1,000-1,499, and 30 million yen for events with 1,500 participants or more.
Subsidisable expenses include venue rental fee, equipment cost, setup cost and shuttle bus operation fee.
For conferences that have international organisers and prior rotations in at least three countries or regions, organisers' accommodation and transport within Osaka are also covered.
Qualifying conferences must be held from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2033, with a duration of more than three days.
The grant is administered by the International Conference Grant Executive Committee, with involvement from Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The committee is accepting applications over email, via the secretariat at Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
