The Seoul Metropolitan Government has unveiled a new growth plan MICE, alongside the launch of a bleisure-focused initiative branded “Seoul, After Business”.
Under the 2026 Seoul MICE Industry Growth Plan, the city aims to expand financial incentives and operational support for international meetings and exhibitions, from the bidding stage through to post-event management, particularly for events linked to Seoul’s strategic industries such as medicine, engineering, science and economics.
The city government said tailored, step-by-step assistance will be offered for international conferences and incentive travel programmes, with incentives of up to KRW280 million (US$196,252) available.
For exhibitions aligned with priority sectors, organisers may also access direct and indirect support of up to KRW80 million, along with customised consulting services. Growth in overseas participation will be factored into evaluation criteria for supported events.
As part of its broader strategy to blend business and leisure travel, Seoul will roll out the “Seoul, After Business” programme targeting MICE delegates, business travellers and accompanying persons. The initiative is designed to encourage longer stays and higher visitor spending by linking limited free time with curated city experiences.
The plan also includes the evolution of Seoul MICE Plaza into a workation hub for long-stay business travellers. Opened in Magok-dong in late 2025, the facility will add a dedicated workation centre this year, offering meeting rooms with hybrid capabilities, VIP lounges and remote-work zones. Its proximity to the Magok R&D and medical cluster and Gimpo International Airport is expected to support the attraction of overseas buyer meetings, technology demonstrations and executive roundtables.
