The Yokohama City Visitors Bureau has unveiled a number of activities themed around sustainability and culture, with the aim of showcasing the Japanese destination’s eco-friendly efforts and its range of traditional and fun experiences.

Groups can take part in a Disaster Prevention Experience tour inspired by Japan’s extensive preparation guidelines in the event of natural disasters. The tour includes interactive training in earthquake and fire response at the Yokohama Citizens Disaster Prevention Centre, followed by a calming Zen meditation session at Yokoin Temple, a historic sanctuary with a 300-year legacy, and which also serves as an important evacuation hub.

Those interested in finding out more about centuries-old traditions can join the Japanese Culture & Kaiseki Dining Tour, which offers a deep dive into Japan’s culinary history and renowned geisha culture. Two other food and drink-themed experiences on offer include the Yokohama Central Wholesale Market Early-Morning Tour, where groups can discover locally-sourced food and sustainable practices and the craft beer bike experience tour. Groups can offset their carbon emissions by jumping aboard a Craft-Beer Bike Experience Tour, pedalling a mobile beer bar together for a fun and unusual way to learn about Yokohama’s beer legacy.

For those keen on showcasing their circus skills, the Inclusive Social Circus programme is a team-building experience officially certified by Cirque du Soleil, which encourages collaboration through interactive activities such as ball passing, plate spinning and human puzzles.
