Japan Airlines took the number one spot in a report looking at the most on-time airlines in Asia-Pacific, with All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines claiming the second and third places respectively.
This is according to a new report on airlines and airports, entitled On-Time Performance Review, produced by aviation analytics firm Cirium. The report analyses and recognises the world’s airlines and airports with regards to meeting their published scheduled arrival times. An on-time flight is defined as a flight that arrives within 14:59 minutes of the scheduled gate arrival time. Airports measure punctuality as departing flights within 14:59 minutes of their scheduled departure time.
The report says that Japan Airlines achieved ‘an exceptional 80.90% of flights arriving punctually on 314,774 flight operations, overcoming notable flight disruptions and delays as the result of Typhoon Ampil and Typhoon Shanshan in August 2024, which caused significant flight delays and cancellations throughout the country’. By comparison, All Nippon Airways recorded 80.62% of flights arriving punctually and Singapore Airlines 78.67%. Air New Zealand and Thai AirAsia also featured in the top five leading airlines for Asia Pacific.
Tokyo Haneda International Airport also featured in the Top 20 of most on-time global airports, ranked in 18th position. Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh King Khalid International Airport claimed the top spot, having achieved an on-time departure record of 86.65% in 2024, across 240,990 tracked flights, serving 115 routes.
