Turkish Airlines has launched a new programme called Co2mission, which
offers options for passengers to offset the carbon emissions of their
flight.
The
programme's website offers numerous portfolio options for carbon offset
with environmental and communal benefits such as renewable energy and
forestation. Passengers aiming to offset the emission of their flight
can do so by contributing their desired amount to the project portfolio
of their choice, thus purchasing a UN-accredited emission reduction
certification.
Flight date information along with arrival-departure destinations are
sufficient to take part in the carbon offset process. Passengers can
complete their carbon offset process whenever they want.
With Turkish Airlines' Co2mission platform, it is possible to
calculate the carbon offset amount using International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) methodology, which considers route length, aircraft
type, fuel consumption and numerous other factors.
The platform can be accessed through Turkish Airlines website during
ticket purchases or directly through the Co2mission website.
