Riyadh Air now flies thrice weekly between King Khalid International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Riyadh Air has launched nonstop flights between Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur on 30 July, marking the Saudi carrier’s first route into Southeast Asia.
The new year-round service will operate three times weekly between King Khalid International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport using Riyadh Air’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Riyadh Air chief executive Tony Douglas said the Kuala Lumpur launch was “a defining moment” for the airline as it establishes its footprint in Southeast Asia, adding that the route creates a bridge between Saudi Arabia and the broader ASEAN region.
The service also gives travellers from Malaysia a new option to connect through Riyadh to destinations in the Middle East and Europe, while giving Saudi passengers a direct link to Kuala Lumpur.
Flights on the route operate as RX0863 from Riyadh to Kuala Lumpur and RX0864 on the return leg. The outbound service departs Riyadh at 10.50pm and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 11.50am the following day, while the return flight leaves Kuala Lumpur at 4.45pm and lands in Riyadh at 7.45pm.
The launch comes as Riyadh Air rapidly expands its young network, which includes London, Jeddah, Dubai, Cairo, Madrid, Manchester, Malaga and Kuala Lumpur.
The airline has set a target of connecting Riyadh to more than 100 destinations worldwide by 2030 under Saudi Arabia’s broader aviation and tourism ambitions.
