Cambodia Airways has began direct flight connecting Phnom Penh to Penang, one of Malaysia’s top travel destinations.

The new route officially begins operations on 26 June 2025, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, with direct link expected to boost international visitor arrivals and trade between the two cities. The flight takes off from Phnom Penh at 8.05am and arrives in Penang at 10.55am. From Penang, the flight departs at 11.55am to arrive in Phnom Penh at 12.40pm.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cambodia Airways to Penang,” said YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State EXCO for Tourism & Creative Economy (PETACE). “This new direct flight not only strengthens connectivity between Penang and Phnom Penh but also reflects growing demand and confidence in Penang’s appeal as a preferred destination for both business events and leisure.”

The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) also welcomes this enhanced connectivity, which is expected to stimulate more business events movement between the two destinations.

With Phnom Penh currently connected to 14 destinations via 27 flights, this new route adds a vital access point for corporate and incentive groups from Cambodia and beyond. PCEB is actively targeting the incentive travel segment and looks forward to working with stakeholders to promote Penang as a leading destination for high-impact international business events.
