Hong Kong carrier Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) has signed Amadeus on as
one of its distribution partners, as the newly established airline
prepares to commence commercial flights in 1Q 2022.
The carrier, which obtained an air operator's certificate in October
2021, will be making available its schedules and fares available to
travel agencies worldwide via the Amadeus Travel Platform in the first
quarter of the year.
Amadeus-connected travel sellers — including travel management
companies, corporations, tour operators, retail travel agencies, online
travel agencies, and metasearch — will also be able to load ticket
changes, seat maps, ancillary services, fare families as well as
real-time flight updates.
GBA has applied for the rights to operate in 104 destinations across
the region, including Chinese Mainland, North and Southeast Asia. The
carrier will launch services with three leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft
and plans to grow its fleet to 30 aircraft over the next five years.
The GBA is part of the Hong Kong government's wider scheme to develop
the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the integration of
Hong Kong into Chinese Mainland’s overall development. This includes a third runway at Hong Kong International Airport slated for 2024.
