Providing momentum to its active MICE and tourism campaign Busan is SURE!, Busan Tourism Organization (BTO) qualifies three new unique venues: Busan X The Sky, P.ARK and Busan e-Sports Arena.
The venues were inspected by the MICE Industry Division of Busan Metropolitan City and BTO, and were passed based on criteria such as event hosting experience, foreign language support and suitability as a unique venue. They also reflect unique aspects of Busan’s appeal and characteristics.
According to an official of BTO, the demand for unique venues that cater to tourism and MICE activities is “increasing remarkably”. As a result, BTO focuses on discovering new potential venues that will attract domestic and international MICE planners.
Busan X The Sky is an observatory located on the 98-100th floors of Haeundae L City Landmark Tower. It can host groups of less than 100 in cosy functions, and has achieved high satisfaction scores from past events for the 128th Korean Chemical Society Symposium, General Assembly and Equipment Exhibition as well as the G-STAR 2021 Welcome Reception. For medium-to-large-scale events of more than 1,000 pax, P.ARK is ranked well for its indoor and outdoor facilities.
Busan e-Sports Arena is located on the 15th and 16th floors of Samjung Tower, and is one of the three esports arenas supported by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The other two are in Daejeon and Gwangju.
The main arena has 330 seats and is equipped with 30 sports-bar-type pub seats and eight premium VIP suite box seats. It has the potential to attract MICE groups with an interest in e-Sports, particularly from Greater China.
With South Korea reopening its international borders for quarantine-free travel, demand for MICE is expected to rebound, and Busan has placed itself in the limelight with recent initiatives to renew its popularity as a hot spot for incentive travel groups.
