Busan Tourism Organization has kept busy with its campaign to create buzz for MICE tourism under the Busan is SURE! Slogan. Under the campaign, Busan has rallied the various MICE sectors under its BleiSURE (International Conference), PleaSURE (Incentive Tourism), and TreaSURE (Unique Venue) initiatives.

Additionally, an official of Busan Convention Bureau shared that Busan has developed Smile Holiday, a MICE product linking Jakarta-Hong Kong-Busan, and has succeeded in attracting a conference for 3,000 delegates from the US.

The convention bureau has kept a high profile in international markets, with participation in IMEX America 2021 and IBTM World 2021 to promote Busan. It was the only participating city from South Korea.

Busan's focus moving forward is to encourage the continued hosting of events, such as the 2022 FIATA World Congress, which was postponed in 2020. Various activities and events such as forums, ancillary events, job fairs, and exhibitions will be held for the congress. More than 3,000 logistics experts from 150 countries will be participating.

The completion of Haeundae as an International Conference Complex Zone adds momentum to Busan’s campaign and prepares Busan to support a seamless delegate journey that is backed by MICE services. It includes enhancing the operations of the MICE Information Center within Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) to facilitate a delegate-friendly experience.

The designated zone comprises hotels such as Park Hyatt Busan, The Westin Chosun Busan, Grand Josun Busan, and Paradise Hotel Busan; retail outlets such as Lotte Department Store and Shinsegae Department Store; and Busan Cinema Center to highlight Busan’s creative film and performance sector.
