Pan Pacific Hotels Group has appointed Edward Kollmer as general manager of Parkroyal Penang Resort.
Kollmer brings with him more than 25 years of industry experience from his home country Ireland, United Kingdom and Asia. He was mostly recently the general manager of Hotel Jen Manila by Shangri-La for three years.
He has previous held various roles in operations and sales and marketing from Forte Hotel Group, Le Meridien, InterContinental Group, GLH Hotels and Shangri-La, and has been general manager to eight different properties prior to taking the helm at Parkroyal Penang Resort.
No stranger to Malaysia, Kollmer has taken the helm as general manager of Thistle Johor Bahru and managed Thistle Port Dickson Resort previously.
"We are proud of our heritage as one of Penang's top resorts and have worked hard to maintain this position through several rejuvenations. Over the past year, MYR55 million (US$14.1 million) was invested to fully refurbish the resort's public guest areas, rooms and suites, all-day dining restaurant and lounge. I'm privileged to take on the role of general manager for this newly transformed resort and with the support of a fabulous team," said Kollmer.
Located on Penang Island's famous Batu Ferringhi beach since 1990, PARKROYAL Penang Resort has undergone several refreshments over the years to stay relevant in Penang's hospitality landscape.
