Why Singapore’s biggest MICE venue is the perfect canvas for planners

From mega conventions to intimate meetings, the world is your oyster in this Playground of Possibilities.

At Singapore EXPO, versatile spaces allow for many possibilities to build events and bring them to life.

When you picture a convention centre, do you imagine grey walls, endless rows of chairs, and cookie-cutter events? At Singapore EXPO, an exhibition hall can turn into a concert arena, a bustling food park, and a global stage for innovation – all under one roof.

As the country’s largest purpose-built MICE venue with flexible spaces, Singapore EXPO hosts 350 events and over 1.5 million delegates and attendees annually, a testament not only to the versatility of the space, but also its technological and professional event support capabilities. With its strong repute, it is the venue of choice for some of the region’s biggest B2B events, such as ITMA ASIA + CITME Singapore 2025 and the Singapore FinTech Festival 2025.

Built to scale, ready to adapt

The interconnected halls facilitated a seamless and engaging event experience for attendees of the ITI World Symposium 2024.

Spanning 123,000 sqm of flexible, interconnected space, Singapore EXPO is designed with agility in mind. Its 10 pillarless halls and three outdoor atriums are all located on the ground level, allowing for seamless logistics and the ability to scale easily, from intimate meetings of 50 to mega conventions of 50,000.

That flexibility was put to the test with the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) 2025. Originally planned for 20,000 sqm, the fast-growing AI event quickly surpassed projections. Singapore EXPO doubled the footprint to 40,000 sqm in exhibition space, added modular meeting rooms, scaled up F&B operations, and mobilised partners to deliver a seamless experience for nearly 10,000 attendees from 80 countries.

Another event that made full use of Singapore EXPO’s versatility was the ITI World Symposium 2024, a premier three-day dentistry summit that gathered 6,000 delegates for a series of insightful plenary sessions at Apex @ EXPO (Hall 1). Next door in Hall 2, it staged an engaging exhibition with interactive displays of the latest industry innovations. The interconnected halls facilitated a seamless event experience for attendees, while creative customisations like a mini Gardens by the Bay networking nook and Satay by the Bay themed dining areas added a distinctly local touch.

A benchmark for sustainability

Singapore EXPO has set the gold standard for sustainability in the MICE industry by being powered by renewable energy, reducing the carbon footprint of events held there. It features Singapore’s largest single-site solar rooftop installation at present – an impressive 16,508 panels (and growing) generating clean, renewable energy that also powers 20 electric vehicle charging stations onsite. On non-event days, it even generates excess power back to the grid.

The venue is also home to an urban rooftop farm with over 100 varieties of fresh crops that yield up to one tonne of produce a month, some of which goes towards event catering. These initiatives have earned Singapore EXPO numerous accolades, including the BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy certification and the SACEOS MICE Sustainability Certification (Platinum), proving to be an outstanding sustainable venue of its kind in Asia.
