The announcement of a 766-room convention hotel in Kuala Lumpur, positioned as a “leading convention hotel”, marks the first introduction of the Irama brand to many in the MICE industry.

On its website, Irama Kuala Lumpur describes itself as a Malaysian-registered hospitality company focused on the acquisition of hotels and resorts. At present, its listed “portfolio” comprises a single property – Irama Kuala Lumpur itself.

Responding to M&C Asia, an Irama Hotel & Resorts spokesperson shared that the company is a newly established hospitality company, created with the strategic objective of acquiring and developing distinctive hotel and resort properties across the region.

The Irama spokesperson shared that its Kuala Lumpur serves as the flagship property of the group, “representing the brand’s vision of delivering refined, contemporary hospitality experiences in key urban destinations”.

The company is developing a pipeline of five-star acquisitions, including a resort on a Malaysian beach.

All Irama properties are operated and managed by Partner Hotels & Resorts, a hospitality management company founded in 2016. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, the firm is active across Southeast Asia, managing properties such as Legend Cherating Resort (Malaysia) and Blue Lotus Hotel in Davao, Philippines.

Partner Hotels & Resorts also managed Grand Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, which will undergo the rebrand into Irama Kuala Lumpur.

Positioned as a luxury and convention hotel with a location in Titiwangsa Sentral along Jalan Pahang, Irama Kuala Lumpur will feature 766 rooms and suites equipped with smart room technology – and a sizeable meetings offering.

In a statement, Irama Kuala Lumpur shared that event spaces will include two grand ballrooms, 12 meeting rooms and a 300-seat auditorium. The main ballroom is said to have capacity for up to 1,000 delegates theatre-style.
