Accor has announced a joint venture with Sydney developer Central
Element and property investor Boston Global (CEBH) to launch the city's
first 25hours Hotel by end 2022.
With other outposts in Cologne, Berlin, Vienna, Hamburg, Munich,
Dusseldorf, Paris and Dubai, 25hours Hotels' emphasis is on social
dining concepts, adventure and design that creates a vibrant community
hub.
“We often talk about being the heart and the living room of a
district. This isn’t just marketing jargon. We are inspired by Lulu dans
ma rue, a non-profit neighbourhood concierge service in Paris," said
25hours Hotels’ co-founder and CEO Christoph Hoffmann.
Sydney's outpost will be located at 1-11 Oxford Street, Paddington,
the heritage building dating back to 1911 when it first opened as the
West’s Olympia Theatre. The choice address in close proxy to South
Dowling Street, Victoria Street and Barcom Avenue makes it convenient
for guests to explore the city's diverse culture and creative scene,
also close to retail, restaurants and parklands.
25hours Hotel Sydney will offer 105 keys, spread over 5,550sqm. A
host of creatives will oversee its design, including award-winning
Australian architecture firm Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, Hong Kong's A Work
of Substance designing the rooms, public areas and events spaces, while
Sydney-based interior designers Acme & Co will work on the hotel’s
F&B areas.
Some amenities include the rooftop bar overlooking Oxford Street and
Sydney’s eastern suburbs and harbour, a central courtyard in the middle
of the hotel which will be used to host live events, conference
facilities, a fitness centre, and a cafe.
“It has been our long-term vision to create a hotel of stature and
presence in the heart of Sydney. We are delighted that in 25hours, we
have found the perfect partner for this unique building. 25hours will be
a hotel characterised by personality and charming, relaxed service,
enriching Oxford Street and the city’s culinary and bar scene," said
Wayne Chivas of CEBH.
Simon McGrath, CEO Accor Pacific, said, “The building itself is in an
incredible location and has enormous potential, and the open areas such
as the rooftop bar and the central courtyard will allow us to truly
bring our new hospitality concept to life. With CEBH we have an
experienced partner at our side, who will bring skill and thoughtful
detail to the project".
