The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre will welcome around 20,000 delegates when it hosts the 46th Asean Summit later this month.

The event, taking place on 26-27 May, is returning to the venue for the third time, with the Centre having hosted previous Asean Summits in 2005 and 2015. The theme for this Summit is ‘inclusivity and sustainability’, reflecting aspirations for shared progress. It underscores how Asean is committed towards strengthening regional peace, stability and prosperity within an inclusive, sustainable and future-oriented framework.

John Burke, general manager at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre said: “Our 34,000 sqm purpose-built venue is continuously evolving to provide the perfect environment for high-level regional engagement and collaboration. We are fully equipped to deliver a seamless experience and zero delays for the thousands of delegates attending the upcoming 46th Asean Summit.”

KLCC has previously hosted a number of security-sensitive gatherings, such as the 12th Asean Finance Ministers, Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM), the KL Summit in 2022 and the United Nations’ 9th World Urban Forum in 2018.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the venue’s value proposition includes institutionalised security protocols developed through close collaboration with senior police officials, traffic authorities, and specialised security personnel.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre , which is marking its 20th anniversary this year, has introduced a number of venue enhancements, including state-of-the-art LED displays, next-generation audio-visual systems and AI-powered smart room controls, alongside enterprise-grade cybersecurity protocols and ISO-certified sustainable event practices
