The China Chest Pain Centers Congress (CCPCC) was hosted in a location outside the Chinese mainland for the first time this year.

In its 15th edition, CCPCC took place on 3-4 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, alongside a concurrent venue in Shenzhen.

Why go global?

During the event, organisers released the first International Standards on Chest Pain Center Construction and Accreditation, a move said to stake China’s leadership in cardiovascular emergency intervention in the international arena.

As the congress turns its ambitions global, Hong Kong is seen as its “super connector” to the world.

The bid to bring CCPCC 2026 to Hong Kong was led by a Hong Kong Convention Ambassador appointed by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, as part of a larger programme aimed at attracting international conventions to the city.

The ambassador was Lu Shi-Juan, a member of the Hainan Medical Association Cardiovascular Professional Committee. She said: “Hosting the conference here showcases how Hong Kong can elevate Mainland conferences internationally, foster cross‑border knowledge exchange and help shape the future development of the broader medical and professional community.”

The first global edition of the congress was attended by around 3,000 healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, researchers, policymakers and industry representatives from Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas.
