BANGKOK - The much-anticipated True Icon Hall has been officially launched in Bangkok on Nov 4, with its grand opening set for four days later.

The 2-billion-baht (US$66.2 million) facility has already had more than 30 conferences and events booked for next year, said operator Iconsiam and its partner True Corporation. Another 100 requests are pending confirmation, reported the Bangkok Post.

The hall targets total revenue of 250 million baht in 2020 and expects to break even in the seventh year of operation, said Iconsiam chief executive Supoj Chaiwatsirikul.

"The collaboration between the two companies brings the best of venue and tech together, providing the nation's most advanced auditorium, conference hall and entertainment venue," said Mr Supoj.

The hall spans 12,000sqm square covering the seventh and eight floors of Iconsiam, with a hall that seats up to 2,700 people.

In addition to the three large halls, True Icon Hall has 14 meeting rooms ranging from 26sqm to 400sqm, which can accommodate a further 950 people.

"The venue is expected to attract MICE organisers," said Birathon Kasemsri Na Ayudhaya, chief content and media officer of True Corporation. "The facility will make Thailand an outstanding destination in Asia for all kinds of world-class events."
