Sydney’s newest MICE precinct is taking off

A new airport and expanded venue space are boosting Panthers Precinct’s appeal for events and conferences.

Western Sydney Convention Centre (WSCC) has announced a new partnership with Encore as the venue’s in-house event production partner, while construction work at the neighbouring Western Sydney International airport has been completed.

The Encore partnership follows the WSCC’s recent expansion to incorporate the Panthers Precinct for conferences and events. It now offers more than 4,000 sqm of event space across the precinct and is the region’s largest purpose-built convention centre, having expanded its space by combining with neighbouring facilities.

The enhanced precinct helps position the region as a key business and tourism hub in Australia, attracting interstate and international delegates to Western Sydney and Penrith, who will be able to use WSI when it is fully operational next year.

Arriving soon: Western Sydney Airport

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese officially marked the completion of Western Sydney Airport’s construction with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, as the airport prepares for trial flights in the coming months. Scheduled to open in 2026, the airport will operate 24/7.

Designed to reflect the natural beauty of the Greater Blue Mountains and the Cumberland Plain, the terminal incorporates elements of Western Sydney’s landscape and Indigenous heritage. Sustainability is a key focus, with features including a climate-responsive façade, more than 6,000 solar panels, and a water recycling system.

Air New Zealand is the latest airline to commit to operating at Western Sydney, joining Qantas, Jetstar, and Singapore Airlines as confirmed carriers.
