Bengaluru is set to gain a major new meetings and events precinct after Prestige Group and d Bengaluru Airport City Limited unveiled plans to invest approximately 1,800 crore rupees (US$190,415 million) in a convention-led mixed-use development within Bengaluru Airport City precinct.

Occupying some 139,355sqm, the new development will be anchored by a convention and exhibition centre capable of hosting up to 8,000 delegates.

Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with completion targeted for early 2031.

Alongside the convention venue, the project is expected to include luxury hotels operating under the St. Regis and Marriott Marquis brands – subject to approvals – office space, retail, food-and-beverage offerings.

A performing arts centre with a seating capacity of 2,500 pax has also been proposed as part of the Prestige Centre plan.

The design of the new mixed-used development will be led by global architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox.

The development forms part of Bengaluru Airport City's broader vision of a mixed-use business, hospitality and entertainment district around Kempegowda International Airport.

Airport-linked convention districts have become an increasingly popular model globally, offering organisers direct access to air connectivity, integrated accommodation and purpose-built event infrastructure.

The plan for Bengaluru Airport City reflects a similar ambition, with the convention centre expected to anchor a wider ecosystem of hotels, offices, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and lifestyle amenities across the 450-acre Airport City masterplan. About 110 acres out of the 450-acre Airport City have already been developed or are under development, according to media reports.
