Alongside the increased post-pandemic demand and awareness in businesses addressing the carbon footprint of their meetings, Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has rolled out Eco-MICE packages — yet another offshoot towards the IR's carbon-neutral by 2030 goal.

The eco-agenda starts before the event, where all guaranteed delegates on this package will receive a complimentary local EZ-Link card with S$5 (US$3.70) stored value to encourage use of public transport.

Meals will be served in sustainable packaging, with all unserved food donated to the Food Bank to reduce food waste. In the backend, food grinders and a biodigester have been installed in RWS kitchens to reduce food waste heading to landfills — translating to 72,000 saved plastic trash bags yearly.

Apart from setting up reusable pens and recycled paper for meetings, planners will find that the entire MICE venue booked has been retrofitted with energy-efficient LED lighting and motion-activated lighting in washrooms. Also in the works are plans to upgrade air conditioning chillers to improve efficiency.

This new offering comes on the back of several multiple green certifications in August for RWS, for efforts in embracing sustainable and responsible practices as an overall destination, for MICE and across its six hotels.
