Through a strategic partnership with climate-tech firm Squake, BCD Travel has developed an integrated platform that consolidates carbon tracking, behavioural modification systems, and financial mechanisms.

The platform's distinguishing feature lies in its point-of-sale integration – offering both online and consultant-assisted booking options that provide immediate visibility into carbon impact, while facilitating carbon taxation and sustainable aviation fuel investment options.

In addition to driving traveller behaviour change, BCD and Squake will provide carbon budgeting, forecasting and reporting tools to help clients set and manage carbon targets. This is key to comply with regulatory reporting requirements like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

The platform also offers a comprehensive view of carbon emissions across air, train, hotel, and ground transportation using multiple calculation methodologies. Unlike traditional booking tools that often show CO2 emissions inconsistently across points of sale, itineraries, invoices, and reports, BCD and Squake’s solution standardises the data, making it easier for clients to track and manage their carbon impact.

BCD’s sustainability solution is currently being piloted with Siemens and will be available to customers in the first quarter of 2025.
