Wynn Macau COO Ciarán Carruthers has been appointed CEO of Crown Resorts (subject to probity approval), commencing in September this year.

Prior to Wynn, he was the senior vice president and director of the Venetian and Plaza Operations for Sands China. He brings more than 30 years of experience running some of the world’s largest integrated luxury resorts, also having held several senior operational roles in Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and the US Pacific Islands.

Steve McCann, who has held the CEO role at both Crown Resorts and Crown Melbourne since 2021, will work through a transitionary period with Carruthers.

Crown Resorts is expected to announce more senior appointments in due course, including the positions of CEO of Crown Melbourne and CEO of Crown Perth.

Among other accomplishments, McCann was instrumental in acquiring approval for Crown Sydney to commence gaming operations; he also oversaw the completion of the sale of Crown Resorts to the Blackstone group.
