Macao
was named the Best Convention City at the M&C Asia Stella Awards
2024, spotlighting its position as a premier global business events hub. With a growing reputation among international planners, Macao continues to host a diverse array of MICE events.
The city's proven track record
in organising successful events was on display at M&C Asia Connections
2024, an exclusive tabletop tradeshow that was held in Macao for the first
time. Through three days of meetings,
business networking, and onsite visits, international MICE buyers experienced
firsthand the unique charm, warm hospitality, and state-of-the-art facilities
Macao has to offer.
Follow these MICE buyers by watching the video below as they journey through Macao, exploring the city’s diverse offerings:
World-class hotels and facilities
“Macao surprises visitors with its multifaceted charm,” said Ferron Gray, president of the Grae Matta Foundation, noting too that the richness of Macao’s MICE infrastructure extends far beyond its gaming facilities. A winning point, said Gray,
is Macao’s diverse hotel offerings, with properties that offer anywhere from 500
to 1,000 rooms. “This ensures that conference attendees can be housed in a single location, making it much easier to organise a conference.”
Macao continues to evolve its
MICE offerings with new hotels and event venues too, including the 16,000-seat Galaxy
International Convention Centre (GICC), which opened in 2023 with Gold
Certification from LEED and Silver Certification from EarthCheck. The 14,000-seat Venetian
Arena – previously known as Cotai Arena – has reopened its doors since November
after undergoing an extensive revamp. The Londoner Grand has launched in
January 2025 on the Cotai Strip with 2,405 rooms and five dining concepts.
Macao’s accommodation and MICE infrastructure are continuously evolving and being upgraded. What further amplifies Macao’s appeal is its proximity to Hengqin, home to resorts like Hyatt Regency Hengqin, Angsana Zhuhai Hengqin, and Chimelong Spaceship Hotel. This allows event planners to craft unique, multi-venue experiences across both cities. Just a short trip away, Hengqin also offers a growing range of wellness experiences and advanced industrial parks specialising in traditional Chinese medicine production – making it an ideal post-conference destination for delegates to unwind and explore innovative industries after meetings in Macao.
Safe and accessibility
Macao's strategic location within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) positions it as a vital bridge between East and West, with seamless access to major GBA cities like Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. Its well-developed transportation network, including the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, ferry services, and an international airport, makes Macao an ideal gateway for trade and business events.
Additionally, Macao is one of the world’s safest destinations, with low crime rates and high public security, while its rich history as a cultural crossroads has fostered a spirit of openness and inclusivity. This secure and welcoming environment extends to business events and MICE activities, making Macao an
attractive location for organisations seeking a secure environment for hosting
events.

professional esports league based in the US. “I could definitely see us holding
multiple e-gaming events in Macao and having our players come out here to Hengqin
for incentive-based trips.”
Exceptional service and event experience
With everything from luxurious accommodation and diverse dining to state-of-the-art event spaces, Macao’s integrated resorts offer a one-stop solution for events, each with its own team of experts to assist MICE planners. Rhanee Palma, founder & CEO of Rhanee Palma & Co in the US, praised the high calibre of service she experienced in Macao: “Even if my programme grows or shrinks, Macao offers the right resources and space to accommodate our needs.”
A unique blend of cultures and cuisines
From food to culture, Macao offers a unique blend of cultures and experiences for global attendees. Photo Credit: M&C AsiaMacao’s rich heritage, blending East and West, enriches its event offerings. Renny Mirna Jostein, Head of Agency Support at PT BCMD - ASN Allianz Star Network in Indonesia, expressed amazement at Macao’s cultural richness: “It’s like experiencing Europe without leaving Asia. The ambiance, buildings, and luxury are remarkable.”
