PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore has become the first hotel in the country to achieve three prestigious sustainability certifications in 2024. The milestone recognitions include the BCA Green Mark Super Low Energy (SLE) Certification, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Industry Criteria for Hotels Certification, and the Green Globe Certification.
Phil Smith, General Manager of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore, said: “This is a proud moment for our team whose hard work and passion for sustainability have made this possible, and achieving these certifications reaffirms our commitment to sustainable hospitality. It inspires us to continue innovating and do our part to create new sustainable initiatives and eco-friendly experiences for our guests.”
The 583-room hotel, located in Singapore’s Marina Bay district, integrates green practices into every facet of its operations. Energy-efficient technologies, including solar panels and motion-activated LED lighting, work alongside an Urban Farm that supports eco-conscious menu planning. Filtered water systems replace single-use plastic bottles, underscoring the hotel’s focus on reducing its environmental footprint.
A Triple Sustainability Milestone
BCA Green Mark Super Low Energy Certification: Awarded in December 2024, this certification highlights the hotel’s ability to achieve 60% energy savings through advanced technologies and on-site renewable energy, surpassing the benchmarks set by Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority. Specific to Singapore, the BCA Green Mark is a green building rating system designed to evaluate a building’s environmental impact and performance.
GSTC Industry Criteria for Hotels Certification: Achieved in February 2024 as part of Pan Pacific Hotels Group’s multi-site certification for all eight Singapore properties, this certification aligns the hotel with global sustainability standards. The GSTC criteria emphasise sustainable management, socio-economic benefits, cultural heritage preservation, and environmental protection.
Green Globe Certification: Obtained in July 2024, this international recognition evaluates the hotel’s sustainability practices across 44 criteria and 380 performance indicators, emphasising continuous improvement through annual audits.
