Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, under Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR), recently completed a nine-month renovation, with a redesign of all 573 guestrooms and suites, conference facilities and public spaces.

With sustainability as a key focus across the entire hotel ecosystem, the transformed guestrooms are equipped with environmentally-friendly features, such as an in-room water filtration system to reduce waste from single-use plastic bottles and smart room control thermostats to promote responsible energy consumption.

Each guestroom also offers wireless bedside charging technology and high-definition smart TVs, for the streaming of movies conveniently from smartphones.

The newly refurbished 33 function rooms count as one of the largest event spaces among Singapore hotels. Spanning over 6,200 sqm across three floors, the conference spaces have modern LED lighting and enjoy an abundance of natural sunlight. Each function room is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including wireless video signal transmission, laser projectors, and 2K to 4K high-resolution LED video walls.

The pillarless 850-sqm Grand Ballroom features two giant LED screens on two walls that can be divided into smaller screens and junior ballrooms for various event sizes.

Sustainable practices include the use of recyclable and biodegradable stationery, filtered drinking water replacing plastic bottles, and a linen-less table setup.

Andrew Tan, GM, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, said: “We are seeing a robust pipeline of major international MICE events planned for 2024. This reflects Singapore’s continued global appeal as a choice destination for both business and leisure events. We have also observed that companies are increasingly focused on integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals into their business and are moving towards greener events by working with hotels and partners with strong sustainability initiatives and practices.

“With Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel’s timely refresh, we are well positioned to support this fast-growing MICE market with our dedication to sustainable hospitality. Beyond incorporating innovative and high-efficiency technology to reduce electricity and water consumption, such as installing in-room water dispensers and using recycled materials as part of the renovation process, we have also implemented green practices in various aspects of our business operations including sustainable sourcing, recycling, and food waste management.

“We are confident that we are able to support events of all scales with our refreshed facilities, modern technology and professional service teams, while playing a strong role in promoting sustainability.”
