Former sumo wrestlers perform entirely in English at the new Ginza venue.
Incentive and corporate groups heading to Japan now have a new entertainment option in the capital city, with the opening of The Sumo Live Restaurant Hirakuza Ginza Tokyo in January 2026.
The new Ginza venue follows the success of The Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka, which has attracted more than 36,000 visitors from over 100 countries since opening in May 2024.
The Tokyo outlet offers a similarly intimate setting, with a maximum capacity for 150 guests, making it suitable for incentive programmes and private corporate events.
Built around the concept of “Edo Spirit – Sumo & Culture Experience,” the two-hour programme combines live sumo performances by former professional wrestlers with a multi-course Japanese dining experience. All performances are conducted entirely in English, catering well to international groups.
Beyond the bouts, guests are introduced to sumo history, techniques and rules, with interactive elements such as on-stage “sumo challenges” and photo opportunities with the wrestlers.
Guests can choose between a Hirakuza Special Kaiseki menu paired with VIP ringside seating, or a Hirakuza Kaiseki menu for premium and standard seating categories. Special dietary requirements are accommodated, with halal, vegan and children’s menus available. An on-site sake bar, Nada no Sake The Bar, will operate daily, showcasing sake from Kobe’s Nada district.
The venue is taking enquiries for private events.
