APAC MedTech returns to the Lion City

Following last year's hybrid success, Singapore's October event will gather some 1,500 virtual and physical delegates.

The two-day hybrid event is set to take place from 19-20 October 2021, as no change has been enforced for MICE event pilots under Singapore's latest round of pandemic restrictions.

The Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed) Virtual Forum returns to Singapore, set to take place from 19-20 October 2021 with an expected attendance of some 1,500 virtual and physical delegates.

The event follows the forum's first-ever virtual edition in 2020, which brought together more than 1,000 virtual and up to 50 in-person delegates, based on prevailing social distancing rules then.

One year on, with local Covid-19 cases climbing, authorities announced updates to the Safe Management Measures (SMMs) on 24 September, including shrinking social group gatherings to two pax, although no change has been enforced for MICE event pilots — allowing the APAC MedTech Conference to carry on as planned.

Under Singapore's latest pandemic restrictions, as of 19 August, MICE event pilots of up to 1,000 participants can take place if all participants are fully vaccinated, or up to 50 attendees without pre-event testing.

Into its seventh edition, the two-day Asia Pacific MedTech Forum 2021: Health Futures by 2025 will feature a speaker line-up of futurists, business leaders, and thought leaders and a virtual showcase presenting cutting edge medical innovations in the hospital and home care settings.

The two-day hybrid event will also host the MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific 2021 Grand Finals, showcasing solutions from 20 accelerator companies. Up to US$300,000 in cash prizes and awards, as well as the title of the 2021 MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific Winner is up for grabs.

“The global pandemic has created an inflection point in the future of healthcare and set the stage for accelerating digital health and innovation to improve access and standards of care for patients. There is no better time than now to make our collective smart bets to transform the region’s healthcare system to meet the evolving needs of our 'new normal'", said Harjit Gill, CEO, APACMed.

Dr Edward Koh, Executive Director of Conventions, Meetings & Incentive Travel at the Singapore Tourism Board added, “We are delighted to partner APACMed in hosting the event in Singapore again this year, which is testament to their confidence in our safety measures and standing as a regional MICE hub. Building on the success of APACMed’s Virtual Forum 2020, MedTech Forum 2021 reimagines the delegate experience by adopting a hybrid format with innovative and safe platforms for great minds to converge, connect and collaborate in real-time here in Singapore."
