APACMed to redefine healthcare and virtual event engagement

As one of Singapore's first hybrid events, the MedTech conference will bring together more than 1,000 virtual attendees and 50 in-person delegates.

SINGAPORE — The Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed) Virtual Forum 2020 is set to take place on 24 September, bringing together more than 1,000 virtual (and up to 50 in-person delegates) in the forum's first-ever virtual edition. As the medical industry has been at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19, this year’s forum will address what agility means for the MedTech industry.

APACMed CEO, Harjit Gill, expressed the importance of uniting the healthcare industry. “The COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed an unprecedented wave of creativity and collaboration across the healthcare value chain: from rapid regulatory approval to supply chain collaboration. This wave of innovation — and the potential lessons being learned — risk being lost unless we have a platform to discuss and share.”

As the one of the largest Medtech conferences in Asia Pacific this year, delegates will be able to attend live and on-demand sessions, watch interviews and demos, and participate in masterclasses across four tracks.

With leading speakers such as Kevin Lobo, CEO of Stryker and chairman of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), and Dr Bernd Montag, CEO of Siemens Healthineers, the theme of this year's forum is “Redefining Healthcare Agility”.

Agility for the MedTech Industry

Addressing what agility means for the MedTech industry, the APACMed Virtual Forum 2020 will focus on how agility can help healthcare companies adapt more quickly to changing customer needs, competitor responses and regulatory guidelines.

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has intensified conversations around universal healthcare as well as cooperation between public and private sectors. For this reason, this year’s forum aims to unite healthcare stakeholders, and to improve the quality of healthcare across the region with the assistance of emerging platforms that demonstrate the value of innovative medical technology. Through plenaries and breakout sessions, the forum will seek to address how these new forces provide unparalleled opportunities in solving unmet needs in Asia Pacific.

Going digital

This year for the first time ever, APACMed will host its flagship regional event online. The format illustrates the digital transformation happening in the Medtech industry, allowing for an immersive experience and opportunity to engage with global leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem in real-time. The platform will also offer on-demand video for up to a month, ensuring lessons learned from the forum will not be lost.

Sponsors and exhibitors include Align Technology, B. Braun, Baxter, Becton Dickinson (BD), Boston Scientific, Hillrom, Hologic, Johnson & Johnson, LivaNova, Siemens Healthineers, Stryker, Terumo, and Zuellig Pharma.

Value of MEDTech during Covid-19

As COVID-19 persists globally, the response of the healthcare industry as a whole has been phenomenal. The MedTech industry has played a pivotal role in responding to new and rapidly evolving challenges by ensuring the right technologies are available, at speed and scale, for providers to diagnose, treat and manage the virus.

From pivoting support services to provide essential clinician training remotely, to innovative digital solutions that enable remote monitoring and treatment of patients; and collaborations with state and federal governments to secure essential supplies for healthcare systems – the MedTech industry has united to transform healthcare delivery and patient care during this unprecedented time. The upcoming virtual forum is set to do the same.
