The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) inked not one, but three agreements
with prominent international event organisers at last week’s
TravelRevive event, set to create a series of new regional and global
events to the Lion City.
Memorandums of understanding (MOU) were signed with Fiera Milano and
Messe Munich, both of which will establish Southeast Asia regional
headquarters in Singapore.
Together with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority
(IMDA), STB also signed a one-year MoU with Informa Tech, organisers of
London Tech Week, to launch a new international technology event in
Singapore.
Slated for the second half of 2021, the event will bring together
governments and businesses in the infocomm, media and tech ecosystem to
discuss topics related to innovation and digital transformation in the
tech sector.
All three collaborations are a boost to Singapore’s MICE industry and
STB deputy chief executive, Yap Chin Siang, said as Singapore gradually
resumes MICE events safely, the bureau “will continue to grow existing
partnerships and forge new ones”.
“Strong partnerships with our stakeholders will be key to emerging
from this crisis stronger and more resilient, and are also testament to
the industry’s confidence in Singapore’s position as a Global-Asia node
for MICE. Together with our partners, we will continue to set Singapore
apart as the world’s leading destination for safe, trusted and
innovative business events,” he said.
The collaboration with Fiera Milano is set to strengthen commercial
relations between Italy/Europe and the ASEAN region, while the
partnership with Messe Munich signals commitment to expand trade fairs
in the region as well as create new anchor events in Singapore.
