MEET Taiwan shines spotlight on sustainability in MICE

Taiwan MICE sector’s commitment to sustainability and green events were showcased at The Meetings Show APAC 2024.

From sustainable conference venues and services to strong support and engagement with industry stakeholders, MEET TAIWAN is stepping up its innovative MICE efforts and emphasising its commitment to sector sustainability.

At The Meetings Show Asia Pacific 2024, representatives from Taiwan's MICE industry engaged in discussions on global trends and challenges, highlighting Taiwan's commitment to sustainability during the two-day trade show in Singapore.

William Wu, Economic Division Director of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, underscored Taiwan's dedication to sustainability in his opening remarks. Rosa Liu, director of the Taiwan MICE Project Office of the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs, shared insights on Taiwan's sustainability roadmap and initiatives, including the launch of the Taiwan MICE Sustainability Roadmap and the MICE Carbon Footprint & Evaluation System website.

Central to the Taiwan pavilion was an interactive exhibit featuring a Taiwan Convention and Exhibition Map, showcasing venues in Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. Accompanied by informative literature and captivating videos, the exhibit highlighted Taiwan's unique venue offerings.

Representatives from Taiwan's leading PCOs, PEOs, and DMCs were present to demonstrate their expertise in event organisation. Exhibitors included MEET TAIWAN, GIS Group Global, ICC TAINAN, Interplan Group, Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, K&A International, TW MICE Event & Destination Management, iMICE Integrated Marketing, Taiwan Tour Travel Agency, and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

Looking ahead, Taiwan is gearing up to host the International MICE Round Table Summit in June 2024 and MICE talk activities at Taoyuan Convention and Exhibition Centre in the fourth quarter. Next year, the 2025 IAPCO Annual Meeting & General Assembly is set to mark a significant milestone for Taiwan's MICE industry.
