Indonesia’s MICE and events sector recorded a robust performance in 2025, with the launch of a digital campaign propping up the national calendar and the addition of new venues auguring continued growth into 2026.
Through its Event by Indonesia platform, the Ministry of Tourism supported hundreds of events, comprising 99 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) events, 46 national-scale events, 29 international events, and 24 MICE events.
Launched on various social media platforms in July 2025, Event by Indonesia centralises information on various events across the country, and is complemented by online-to-offline activations.
The coordinated push for events resulted in 12.2 million visitors, involved more than 20,800 MSMEs and over 250,000 workers, and generated an estimated Rp23.76 trillion (US$1.4 billion) in economic turnover, Tourism Minister Widyanti Putri Wardhana said.
Industry operators report that supply-side growth is reinforcing demand. Ryan Adrian, managing director of PT Industri Pameran Nusantara – the joint venture between Agung Sedayu Group and Salim Group behind Jakarta’s NICE exhibition and convention venue – observed solid growth in the MICE sector in 2025.
“The addition of new venues has created opportunities for the expansion of established events and for hosting new international events entering Indonesia, particularly in the Greater Jakarta area,” he said.
Looking ahead, Adrian expects momentum to continue into 2026 despite broader global uncertainties. “Regional and national performance remains relatively strong. Booking trends for MICE at the NICE venue are expected to increase significantly compared to 2025, when we operated for only four months,” he added.
