Singapore’s tourism sector rebounded robustly and showed resilience
with a solid performance for 2023. International visitor arrivals hit
13.6 million in 2023, about 71% compared to 2019, meeting Singapore
Tourism Board’s (STB) forecast of between 12 and 14 million visitors.
Tourism receipts are estimated to reach S$24.5 to $26.0 billion, about
88-94% of the 2019 figure.
For the first nine months of 2023, the top tourism receipt generating
markets were China, Indonesia and Australia, which contributed S$2.3
billion, S$2.2 billion, and S$1.5 billion respectively (excluding
sightseeing, entertainment and gaming).
Visitors also spent more time in Singapore compared to before the
pandemic. The average length of stay in 2023 was about 3.8 days, an
increase compared to 3.4 days for the same period in 2019.
STB will continue to attract and nurture quality business events that
align with Singapore’s identified growth and priority industries, such
as advanced manufacturing, aerospace and logistics, applied health
sciences and financial services.
STB successfully secured several significant business events that
took place in Singapore for the first time in 2023. These include SILMO
Singapore, transport logistic Southeast Asia, Bar Convent Singapore, the
25th World Congress of Dermatology 2023, Million Dollar Round Table
(MDRT) Global Conference 2023, and the International Trademark
Association (INTA) 2023 Annual Meeting Live+.
