BANGKOK — Capella Hotel Group’s first property in the Thai capital
is finally ready to open its doors from October 1, 2020, following a
delayed launch initially slated for Q2 2019.
The lifeblood of the Thai capital since inception in 1782, the
“revival of the riverside has been happening organically for some years
now and it’s incredible to experience the enthusiasm everybody has for a
return to the city’s original roots,” says John Blanco, General Manager
of Capella Bangkok.
Inspired by the stories – both old and new – of riverfront life and
Capella’s brand philosophy of ‘preserving tradition’, ‘heightening
discovery’ and ‘celebrating individuality’, the urban resort sprawls
across 350 metres of riverfront real estate, also boasting Bangkok’s
first riverfront villas. These riverside villa and verandah luxury
accommodations additionally feature outdoor jacuzzi plunge pools. All
101 rooms, suites and villas are blessed with unobstructed views of the
famous river, as are the resort’s public areas, thanks to
floor-to-ceiling windows.
Guests are invited to soak in luxury whether it’s enjoying menus
crafted by celebrated Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, clocking in
spa time at Auriga Wellness, or interacting with locals – easily
arranged through ‘Capella Curates’ experiences. Personal assistants will
tailor, coordinate and facilitate every aspect of a guest’s stay,
including taking guests to engage with locals or in activities that
define this neighbourhood – an idea that could also possibly be
reinvented to suit incentives trips.
For business travellers and events planners, Capella Bangkok offers a
grand ballroom looking out to views of the Chao Phraya River, outdoors
in the Courtyard, or even a special event while afloat on the river.
“[Capella’s guests are] discerning travellers seeking highly
tailored, curated experiences which give them unique access to authentic
Bangkok,” shares Blanco. “The reinvigorated riverside with additions
such as IconSiam for shopping and trendy bars, restaurants and creative
spaces housed in old shophouses, are all reachable by boat or on foot.”
Blanco brings with him more than 25 years’ experience with stints
across brands such as The Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and other
award-winning independent hotels. In this General Manager role, Blanco
will be tasked with the debut of Capella Hotels and Resorts’ first
property in Thailand and providing guidance to the pre-opening team.
