Business Events Sydney (BESydney), in partnership with Business Events Australia (BEA), has launched a new online game showcasing Sydney's appeal as an incentives destination.

Corporate clients and incentive organisers in Singapore, Malaysia and India are invited to take part in the game, with prizes from BESydney awaiting them.

Using a gamified track experience along with postcards and destination footage, the fun, educational game brings Sydney experiences to life. It was developed for web-GL, utilising video encoding and 3D animation sequences.

Players race around Sydney’s streets using a koala bear avatar, collecting points by visiting attractions online, answering riddles and questions about the city and learning about what it can offer to events organisers.

Points will determine a player’s position on the leader board and prize vouchers will be awarded for top players, until 22 August 2022.

Among the featured venues and attractions are the Sydney Opera House, Bondi Beach, Crown Sydney and ICC Sydney. Nearby regional activities were included as BESydney research showed that 52% of Asian Incentives included regional experiences. These included quad biking and cable cars in the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, and the Central Coast.

“Tourism is a highly experiential industry and gamification is an ideal way to allow users to experience the destinations for themselves. The Experience Sydney game has been designed to allow the player to discover Sydney as an event and experience destination and showcase safety and infrastructure in a fun way,” BESydney CEO Lyn Lewis-Smith said.

BESydney also intends to launch the game in Japan and South Korea.
