The fares for 12 new selected routes include Paris – Bangkok and Singapore – London.
Lufthansa Group is extending Green Fares to long-haul flights for the
first time in APAC as a test to gain key insights for the further
development of sustainable travel.
The selection of routes includes connections between the Lufthansa
Group hubs and various destinations around the world. This broad
selection addresses different target groups. Anyone booking flights with
Lufthansa Group airlines, for example from London to Hong Kong, or
Paris to Bangkok via the airlines' hubs, will also automatically be
shown the Green Fares tariff.

Sustainable flying
"The growing demand for our Green Fares fare shows that more and more
people want to travel as sustainably as possible. We support them with
suitable offers.
“The Green Fares test on long-haul flights will provide us with
important insights for the further development of our portfolio for more
sustainable travel," said Christina Foerster, member of the Lufthansa
Group executive board responsible for Brand & Sustainability.
In February, the Lufthansa Group introduced Green Fares for routes
within Europe and to North Africa. Since the launch, more than 500,000
passengers have opted for a Green Fares flight.
How it works
The fare includes full offsetting of individual, flight-related CO2
emissions with one click through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel
(SAF) and a contribution to high-quality climate protection projects.
With SAF, a reduction of 10% of CO2 emissions is achieved, while the
remaining 90% is offset through climate protection projects. The
Lufthansa Group ensures that the amount of SAF required for offsetting
is fed into the airport infrastructure within six months of purchase.
As so-called "drop-in" fuel, SAF is mixed with fossil fuel before
being transported to the airport. The Lufthansa Group's compensation
partners now comprise 15 projects, including, most recently,
technology-based projects. The providers are myclimate, Climate Austria,
SQUAKE and ClimatePartner. All projects in the Lufthansa Group climate
project portfolio are certified according to the highest available
standards.
Lufthansa Group sustainability initiatives
· The Lufthansa Group aims to achieve a neutral CO2 balance by
2050. By 2030, it wants to halve its net CO2 emissions compared to 2019
through reduction and compensation measures.
· The reduction share of the 2030 target was validated by the
independent Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in August 2022.
· For climate protection, the Lufthansa Group is focusing on
accelerated fleet modernisation, the use of SAF, the continuous
optimisation of flight operations, and offers for corporate customers to
make a flight or the transport of cargo more sustainable.
