Banyan Tree’s Singapore homecoming has given the city its first business events venue in a rainforest.

Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree is a 338-key property nestled within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve – currently home to the Bird Paradise, Night Safari, River Wonders, Singapore Zoo, and Rainforest Wild Asia.

The newbuild features the Meranti Ballroom, which Banyan Tree says is “inspired by the mythology of the forest floor”. With a centrepiece that resembles the bridal veil stinkhorn mushroom known for its hexagonal veil, Banyan Tree hopes the venue “sparks conversations about fungi, flora, and folklore”.

The 460-square-metre ballroom has a four-metre ceiling height and capacity for up to 300 guests in banquet configuration, 320 in theatre set-up, or 240 classroom style. The Meranti Ballroom can also be split into two separate venues.

Meeting rooms include Kempas, for 24 pax in boardroom set-up to 40 pax in theatre style, and Pulai for 16 pax to 25 pax. Kempas and Pulai can also be combined for larger meetings.

Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree is also said to feature Singapore’s first restaurant set within a rainforest.

Forage, the resort's signature restaurant, offers views of the Upper Seletar Reservoir featuring nature-inspired dining with a “harvest to table” concept featuring ingredients sourced from the rooftop edible garden and local sustainable producers.

Guests may explore the garden, which grows more than 15 native herbs including butterfly pea, torch ginger and asam gelugor; or access the observation deck, a birdwatching spot with more than 30 species recorded including white throated kingfishers, sunbirds, and bulbuls.
