Indulging in Thai street food can now be enjoyed in a setting that is conducive for both business and leisure. Long Chim, the street sibling to Nahm in Bangkok, attracts Thai food fans from the luxe environs of Marina Bay Sands.
Located on the same level as other sterling stalwarts with Michelin-star heritage, this David Thompson-inspired outlet adds posh to the dining experience with an ambience that is classy yet edgy with elements of modern street art and Thai culture.
Perennial favourites such as Thai fish cakes and rice with minced beef with hot basil and fried egg for carb-loving diners are on the menu. The Prin's noodles were skilfully fried with enough of wok work to give it the perfect mouth-feel of heat and umami flavour. The kanom jin with mashed prawn curry was another hit that delivered on intensity and texture; it was rich and thick with bits of prawn. Desserts too were simple but well-executed - the banana roti had the right note of sweetness and a crisp skin that contrasted with the soft yielding flesh, and the mango sticky rice tasted just right with rice that was soft but grainy, and mango that was sweet and succulent.

Long Chim's drinks too take centre stage with its Bar Program - designed by an award-winning team and featuring unique signatures such as Long Chim's Sticky Rice Sour, made with aged rum, rice wine, fresh mango juice and pandanus and coconut foam; and Tears of the Black Tiger, made with mescal, sherry, hand-pressed tamarind, peanut orgeat and bitters.
Its Bar Program has garnered interest from corporate groups who have booked cocktail making and appreciation sessions for team building activities. Under the guidance of the bar team, participants may also create their individual or corporate drinks, all with a Thai-inspired theme.
"We have in the past done a number of drink- related events with alcohol sponsors and iconic international bar talents, ranging from 50-200 pax. We are also planning to officially launch the Corporate Experience sometime next year," shared bar manager Jay Gray.
