Tencent Cloud has launched AI Transfy, an AI-powered speech
recognition and automatic subtitle generation tool made specifically for
virtual conferences.
In a new era of virtual and hybrid meetings, Tencent's latest tool is
set to break language barriers and enhance efficiency, especially for
large-scale global conferences, while reducing operational costs of
engaging local translators.
“There has been a strong growth in virtual conferences this year,
making it even more important for us as a leading internet service
provider to keep up with customers’ ever-changing needs. We are excited
to present AI Transfy to the international community leveraging
Tencent’s 13 years of deep expertise in relevant areas, covering various
purposes from business to conferences and summits as well as news,
culture and entertainment. We are poised to make more contributions in
connecting the world even further and eliminating language barriers,"
said Poshu Yeung, vice president of Tencent International Business
Group.
With an accuracy rate of 96 per cent, especially for Chinese and
English languages, the tool can be used for audio/video transcription
and translation, livestream subtitling, multilingual subtitling,
automatic timeline segmenting, subtitle design and video compression.
Other languages provided include Malay, Indonesian and Thai.
The AI tool was tested at the 4th World Intelligence Congress in
June, delivering simultaneous interpretation and subtitling to the 58.6
million global attendees tuning in via more than 40 platforms. The same
translation services supported China's other mega event: the 127th China
Import and Export Fair.
As well as the MICE industry, Tencent is targeting sectors such as education, entertainment and media.
The launch of AI Transfy is Tencent's latest move into the events
space, after broadcasting Paris Fashion Week to China's
fashion-conscious consumers in September, and supporting the
physical-to-digital shift of the world’s largest trade fair, the 127th
China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), in June.
