Standard International has appointed Amber Asher as CEO, while Amar Lalvani transits to Executive Chairman, as part of an executive leadership team realignment for its next phase of global expansion plans.

Asher succeeds outgoing CEO Lalvani, who served in the role for the past eight years. The colleagues spent the past decade working at Standard International, parent company of Standard Hotels, Bunkhouse and Peri Hotels.

Said Lalvani, "I could not be more excited to transition the CEO role to Amber. We have worked closely together for over a decade and she has been highly instrumental and effective at growing the company and overseeing our expanding global footprint and talented teams. I have the utmost confidence in her ability to lead the organisation into this exciting phase of global growth."

Asher joined The Standard as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, where key milestones include the acquisition of The Standard brand and the formation of Standard International in 2013 together with Lalvani, and her promotion to president in 2017.

She also negotiated all the company’s contracts for new hotel developments and oversaw legal matters — an extension of her earlier days as the Associate General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Morgans Hotel Group.

Alongside Lalvani, Asher has played a key role in building Standard International’s team, overseeing the operations of the 17 properties within the portfolio. In the new CEO role, she will continue overseeing all aspects of the business, including accelerating the global pipeline for the boutique hospitality brand.

Lalvani will transit from CEO to Executive Chairman, and remain involved as an active board member as well as involved in key strategic projects around the world.

Srettha Thavisin, CEO and President of Sansiri — a major shareholder in Standard International — will remain Chairman of Standard International’s Board of Directors.
