MITEC welcomes new CEO

The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) has announced the appointment of Mala Dorasamy as its new CEO, who took on the Acting CEO role last year. Mala has been with MITEC since 2017, where she joined as director of sales and marketing.

She brings with her a track record of over 31 years’ experience in the business events industry specialising in the opening of new centres; project managing major United Nations/APEC/ BRICS level events; strategy development and operational management; international marketing; business development; sales growth; safety and risk management; and ISO/Halal implementation and management.

Mala was also previously a sales and marketing director at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) where she played a significant role in building the Durban ICC's global reputation, brand, and profitability.

“Collaboration and partnership are essential for business recovery. Integrated, creative solutions and resource pooling will result in an effective and efficient turn-around for Malaysian businesses” says Mala.

Mala was nominated for the Top 40 Women in Mice in Africa in 2015 and was awarded the South African Association of Conference Industry Fellowship Award.
